The Chapman Collection - Vol 1 : Curtains and Draperies (Window Treatments)

See all formats and editions

"The Chapman Collection" provides a detailed, current source of design reference for interior designers, architects, refurbishers, curators, building managers, and all those concerned with the authenticity of interiors.

The illustrations are derived from the archives of Albert E.

Chapman Ltd, soft furnishers and members of the Association of Master Upholsterers.

The archives have been compiled over 60 years from practical experience and detailed research and are regularly used to identify designs to suit a room or building of a specific date or style. Volume 1 covers curtains and draperies, showing full window treatments (including valances, pelmets, trims and decorations) in styles and designs popular since 1720.

In all cases, the illustrations bear in mind the practical requirements of making-up, and are re-drawn from historical sources to make up exactly as shown.

Advantages of modern techniques and materials are considered where these would not detract from the authenticity of the finished work.

Window treatment dates/period are included. Volume 1 is a library-quality ring binder with 100 pages.

This allows the addition of future designs, in date and section order, as they are produced.

A second volume of "The Chapman Collection" is planned, covering other aspects of soft furnishings and interior design, to create a comprehensive design reference source.
