This survey report provides the findings of the national compensation survey conducted by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE), and the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).

Its purpose is to provide the profession with the most comprehensive and valid compensation resource available.

Readers can use this compensation survey to learn the value of engineers in today's job market.

The 2005 study is presented in three sections based on 9.687 online questionnaires collected between April 2, 2004 and April 1, 2005.

First, overall salary and income statistics are highlighted in the Executive Summary, followed by total compensations data for each engineering level, plus various cuts in Income Trends.

Lastly, Policies and Practices features trends in prevalence for a number of top areas including: employment status, changes in base salary, promotion, compensatory time off and others.

The survey includes statistical analysis in the form of graphics and charts allowing information to be conveyed in an in-depth, easy-to-read format.
