Encountering the God of life : report of the 10th Assembly of the World Council of Churches

Under this theme, the 10th Assembly of the World Council of Churches drew 3500 registrants and thousands of other visitors from 100 countries to Busan, Republic of Korea in late 2013.

This indispensable volume not only records the essential business and actions of the assembly.

It also captures something of the intellectual and religious energy of the assembly's key presentations, discussions, and statements.

Six plenary sessions offered expertise and religious discernment on Christianity in Asia, the assembly theme, and specific issues of unity and witness, peace and justice around the globe.

Its 21 "ecumenical conversations" delved into the most pressing questions facing Christians and Christian churches today-from a radically altered religious landscape to a globalised yet lopsided economy, to climate change and gender violence, to important new ecumenical insights about mission, the church, spirituality, and Christian service.

The volume attests to and encourages an engaged ecumenical future for Christian churches everywhere.
