Surviving Hereditary Breast Cancer - My Cancer Survival Story

When you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer, it becomes the elephant in the room that no one can stop thinking or talking about. This disease changes everything in a person's life.

Everything matters, especially when you're the pinnacle of your family, and you have to handle every matter.

Cancer does not have to be an automatic death sentence. In this book, I share with you my story and how I survived a diagnosis of hereditary breast cancer. There is hope for you, and having hope matters.

The cancer conversation permeates every part of a cancer survivor's life. I will share with you the information I gathered in my extensive research about this disease, along with my history with cancer in my family. We'll talk openly about money issues, common misconceptions about cancer, and how to handle this new issue among your closest relationships.

I spent much of the middle of the book talking about how to deal with cancer and your children. I have children of my own, and talking to them about the entire process was the hardest thing I had ever had to do. I will share with you how I handled this difficult conversation.

Of course, I will also discuss alternative and complementary therapies apart from the usual chemo and radiation. I will share with you the personal details of how I coped with the day-to-day realities of being a mom and providing for my family while dealing with "the big C."

We will also talk about the heavy subjects of dealing with your mental health and how to find love when you feel unlovable. I also provide you with an index of agencies and resources where you can find additional help for genetic testing, mental health, and financial assistance.

As always, the information contained in this book is not meant to treat or diagnose any condition. This book is about my personal journey navigating the harsh landscape of a cancer diagnosis. Individual needs may vary, and you should always consult a doctor before making any healthcare-related decisions.
