Growing up in foster care can be challenging. Holden provides us a look at her childhood as one of Canada's foster children.

Holden who was born in Vancouver BC, was placed in over twenty three different homes from Vancouver, Prince George and Williams Lake BC.

She tells of how she was thrusted into a system that was set up to protect her only to be victimized by her caregivers. Holden tells a tale of how she was physically, sexually and emotionally abused as a child under the care of the provincial government, at the hands of those who were to protect her.

She tells how she dates a hijacker, ends up in jail and eventually turns her life completely around and graduates high school. Holden not only tells her story but she also takes it one step further and interviews other foster parents, foster children, and the Minister for Children & Families Minister themselves, and addresses the issues that need to be changed within the failing system and obtains possible solutions to the issues at hand. Daughter's Choice is an emotional but powerful read and a story that must be told.
