Written and illuminated in the early fourteenth century to celebrate a marriage which never took place, the book was unfinished by its aristocratic patrons.

Yet within its rich borders, a forgotten world comes to life, a cornucopia of comic, bawdy, and fantastic images of scenes from myths and fables, riddles and puzzles designed to intrigue and delight the medieval viewer as they still do today.
