Wayne McCullough is widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters of his generation.

Raised on Belfast's notorious Shankill Road during the Northern Ireland Troubles, McCullough turned his back on the internecine violence in the streets around him and chose to use his fists in the ring.

In 1995, he finally achieved his dream when he was crowned WBC bantamweight world champion after beating Yasuei Yakushiji in Nagoya, Japan.

Five years later, disaster struck when a cyst was discovered on McCullough's brain during a routine scan.

His licence to box in the UK was withheld and to many it appeared as though his career was over.

Showing his characteristic tenacity and courage, however, McCullough fought his way back to fitness and had the decision against him reversed.

In "Pocket Rocket", McCullough recalls his gruelling contests with opponents including Naseem Hamed, Erik Morales, Scott Harrison and Oscar Larios.

Told in his own words, it is a frank and revealing account of the life of a professional fighter.
