The handbook includes all important photovoltaic materials, with the chapters kept uniformly short to allow readers to concentrate on just those subtopics of particular interest. Divided into seven volumes, the first covers the fundamentals, while volumes 2 and 3 go on to look at bulk solar cells.

The following three volumes investigate thin film solar cells, and the final volume covers systems and applications.
