This illustrated Chemistry book featuring the Chalcogens is the fourth one of The Magical Periodic Table and The Element Girls series which brings the elements of the periodic table to life for middle and high school students.

In this book series, every element is depicted as a girl or woman who tells her own story based on the element's discovery, uses, physical, and chemical properties.

The narrator is Atom, who loves to draw, tell stories, imagine, and explore science along with her dog Electron and her friends Ion, Mole, Valence, Exo, Endo, Isaac, and Albert. She receives a magical periodic table as a birthday present which transports her and her friends to each individual element's "environment" where they meet the colorful element characters who tell them their personal stories.

In this series, Atom and her friends travel to Muir Woods in California, Kilauea volcano in Hawaii, a health spa and skin clinic, a large artist studio, and finally to the Maria Sklodowska-Curie Museum in Warsaw, Poland to meet the element girls.

Along with the element's story, this book also contains a colorful illustration of each element, Chemistry vocabulary words, check-yourself questions, and resources.
