Organizational interventions to reduce work stress : are they effective?

This report reviews the literature on organizational interventions designed to reduce work-related stress.

The initial section sets out a model of occupational stress, and contrasts two approaches to stress reduction: individual stress management techniques intended to enhance individuals' ability to cope with stress; and organizational interventions intended to change the work situation, thus reducing the stressors to which employees are exposed.
